Three Richards, Layton & Finger Directors Named World’s Leading Private Funds Lawyers

WILMINGTON, Delaware (September 2, 2014) – Paul Altman, James Leyden Jr. and Melissa Stubenberg, Richards, Layton & Finger directors, have been selected by Who’s Who Legal as three of the world’s leading private funds lawyers. Mr. Altman, Mr. Leyden and Ms. Stubenberg are among only five lawyers in Delaware and only 457 lawyers worldwide to receive this recognition.

Mr. Altman, chair of Richards, Layton & Finger’s Business Department and head of the firm’s Limited Liability Company and Partnership Advisory Group, is an acknowledged authority regarding the formation of private investment funds. He has held leadership positions on numerous bar committees and boards, and has long been involved in drafting and amending Delaware’s LLC and partnership statutes. Mr. Altman coauthored the leading treatise in the field, Lubaroff & Altman on Delaware Limited Partnerships.

Mr. Leyden, also a member of the firm’s LLC and Partnership Advisory Group, is a member and the immediate past chair of the Delaware State Bar Association subcommittee responsible for drafting amendments to Delaware’s LLC and partnership statutes. He also serves on the TriBar Opinion Committee (co-reporter of TriBar’s LLC Reports) and ABA Legal Opinion Committee. Mr. Leyden handles sophisticated private equity investment fund matters, structured finance transactions, and a variety of other matters involving Delaware LLCs, partnerships and trusts.

Ms. Stubenberg has served as Delaware counsel on numerous cutting-edge transactions, high-profile private deal restructurings and management buy-outs. Handling a wide variety of transactions involving the formation, operation and dissolution of Delaware LLCs and partnerships, Ms. Stubenberg’s clients include many Fortune 500 companies and some of the world’s largest financial institutions, private equity funds and hedge funds.
