Richards, Layton & Finger Receives Lex Mundi Pro Bono Award

WILMINGTON, Delaware (June 4, 2014) – Richards, Layton & Finger has been honored with the 2014 Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation Award for the North American region. The award recognizes Lex Mundi member law firms that have provided critical pro bono legal services to help strengthen the global rule of law, support global social entrepreneurship, and improve the lives of the world’s poor and disenfranchised.

Richards, Layton & Finger director Samuel Nolen, past chair of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation board of directors, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at Lex Mundi’s annual conference in New York City on Saturday, May 3, 2014. The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation is a nonprofit affiliate of Lex Mundi, the world’s leading network of independent law firms.

One of only four award recipients worldwide, Richards, Layton & Finger was recognized for its work with organizations that tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems. In presenting the award, the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation noted the firm’s legal services to mothers2mothers, whose mission is to eradicate pediatric HIV by training, employing and empowering mothers living with HIV; its work with APOPO, which combats the scourge of undetected landmines using trained mine detection rats and provides tuberculosis detection services using TB detection rats; and its support of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation’s LawForChange project, which provides online legal information for social entrepreneurs who are dedicated to improving lives and bringing about social change.
