WILMINGTON, Delaware (August 27, 2024) – Richards, Layton & Finger is proud to announce the firm’s new Arbitration & Mediation practice. Led by Greg Williams and Kevin Gross, we are deepening our existing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice as we remain focused on expanding our services and meeting the needs of all parties involved.

Our ADR lawyers use their deep legal and judicial experience to achieve durable agreements in even the most intractable disputes. Always committed to advancing our clients’ business goals in the most efficient, effective manner, our team forges creative solutions beyond those available in contested litigation.

“The rules and procedures for ADR in Delaware continue to develop, and we have long been directly involved in the evolution of this area of practice,” explains Lisa Schmidt, president of Richards Layton. “In fact, in 2015 several of our lawyers participated in drafting Delaware’s innovative Rapid Arbitration Act, and followed that by publishing The Practitioner’s Guide to the Delaware Rapid Arbitration Act. As we launch our new Mediation and Arbitration practice area, we continue to find ways to grow, innovate, and deliver top-notch legal services to our clients.”

Widely acknowledged as one of Delaware’s preeminent corporate lawyers, Greg Williams has advised and represented some of the nation’s largest corporations and their directors and officers in their most high-stakes disputes. Greg currently uses his extraordinary skills and expertise to assist and advise other Richards Layton directors as they represent the firm’s clients. He also brings enormous experience handling business disputes and his familiarity with the Delaware courts to his successful mediation and arbitration practice.

“In today’s fast-paced and increasingly complex legal environment, the ability to resolve disputes through mediation and arbitration is more critical than ever,” says Greg, chair of the Mediation and Arbitration practice. “Our new practice leverages our firm’s vast legal knowledge and experience, positioning us to offer our clients alternative dispute resolution solutions that are tailored to their unique needs.”

Kevin Gross joined Richards Layton after serving a 14-year term as a highly esteemed judge on the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, where he developed a national reputation as a mediator of choice to help resolve complex chapter 11 cases. Kevin currently assists the firm’s restructuring clients in all aspects of chapter 11 matters and also acts as a mediator in chapter 11 cases, including plan mediations and other complex and high-stakes mediations.

“This initiative underscores the firm’s commitment to providing clients with a full spectrum of dispute resolution services,” says Kevin. “I’m excited about the opportunity to offer clients an alternative to traditional litigation, and to be able to facilitate fair and equitable outcomes while minimizing the time, expense, and uncertainty often associated with litigation.”
